The global shipbuilding industry is experiencing a new round of cyclical growth. This year, new shipbuilding orders have reached the highest level since 2007, and the prices of new shipbuilding are approaching historical highs.

The latest data from Clarkson shows that as of December 21 this year, a total of 2,342 new ships have been ordered, amounting to 64.3 million compensated gross tons (CGT) and 163.3 million deadweight tons (DWT). Among them, Chinese shipyards have reached a historical high, securing 70% of the global orders. According to Clarkson's data, as of the end of November, Chinese shipyards have received orders for 1,518 new ships, with a total of 115.9 million deadweight tons and 41.8 million CGT.

The world is experiencing a new wave of shipbuilding fever. Different from the previous cycle, in this round of new shipbuilding, high-value-added ship types have become the favorites of shipowners. In terms of production capacity, the Chinese shipbuilding industry has been supported by various aspects such as scale, policies, and technological research and development. Old shipyards are constantly being revitalized, and new shipyards are emerging like mushrooms after rain. China has taken the lead and reached the top of the world rankings.
